First Pastoral Urban Park - Jingqin No.1 Park
Location: Xinyi District / Area: 95,105 square meters

Jingqin No.1 Park is one of the achievements by the Taipei City
Government in promoting citizen participation and pastoral urban
policies in recent years. It was originally used as an army maintenance
factory. Its location is close to Taipei Medical University and Xinyi
Business District, a location with great potential for revival development.

After a simple greening in 2006, in 2016, in response to the pastoral
urban policy in recent years, the Taipei Parks and Street Lights Office
was in charge to build the park. The planning and design processes were
held several times for residents to participate in the workshop. The
authority was listening to local voices, gathering people's needs and
opinions, and concentrating the consent on planning the park to create
the first park in Taipei based on the idea of a pastoral urban.

In addition to the green landscaping, the concept of eco-city development for urban farming provides
not only a visual pleasure for citizens, but also builds up a park environment with local style and
aesthetics, and integrates educational functions to promote the relationship between residents and
                the earth.

It is also the first herbal-themed park with a total of 11 kinds of herbs. The park is designed along
with leaf veins patterns, divided into zones of leaves’ lines, colors, shapes and aromas to create visual,
olfactory, tactile, taste, and hearing, five senses experiences. An educational edible landscape park, also
equipped with underground rainwater storage tanks, using a circulating watering system, is an urban
garden of environmental sustainability that heals citizens’ bodies and minds.

Other than the using of characteristic varieties to create visual guidance and to achieve the
changing effects of the four seasons, the use of multi-level planting, the establishment of buffer
zones, had created a diversified flexibly usable and experiential space. Even the directions of the
seats in the viewing square area and the mound terrain have all been considered in the direction
of 101 observations, making Jingqin No. 1 Park a great spot for viewing Taipei 101 building and a
demonstration field for both the young and the old to experience the urban pastoral.
