To Transform the Park, We Need
a Playground!
The transformation of Fenghe Park includes
five main directions, namely general use, water
purification, ecology, aesthetics and sustainability,
with the playground as a highlight to attract
children and parents alike. In general use design,
wheelchair use, smoothing uneven grounds and
barrier-free access are considered to meet the
needs of all the users and create indiscriminate
use of space. In water purification, water quality
is improved by changing or lengthening the
waterway, and adding the water purification
plants, etc. In ecology, aside from improving
water quality, wetland vegetation, and butterfly
and bird attracting plants on the shore are
enhanced to offer the living things the habitats
and food. In aesthetics, a series of physical
sensations through the undulating trails
are accessible, and combined with aesthetic
landscape installations, it offers different visual
and atmospheric experience. Finally, a large
number of pebbles and rocks from the river
course reconstruction are re-used in order not to
produce waste for environmental sustainability.
Furthermore, the playground in the park is the
most popular. There are many slides of different
lengths and types, inclusive of the roller-type,
terrazzo-type, wide and narrow ones for children
to choose from to meet the needs of different
age groups. Among them, the most popular
is a roller-type slide of 50 meters long, so on
holidays, many families go on a pilgrimage and
wait in a long line there.
