The Waterfront Life on the Plateau, an Alternative Imagination
of the Pond

Chintan Park (Green Pond Park), located about 1 kilometer to the southwest of Taiwan
High Speed Rail Taoyuan Station, is an important portal of Taoyuan. It covers an area of 6.3
hectares. For the traffic flow design, a riverbank slope, observation deck, wooden trail, lakeside
trail, and waterfront stage are created to match the rising and falling of the slope by the pond
so that tourists can experience the relationship between the landform and the waterfront. At
the center of the park is a magnificent cable-stayed bridge as a visual highlight, and beside
it, a visitor center offers tourists recreation and dining. The entire space is equipped with the
self-guided tour system so that tourists can get to know the culture and ecology of the pond.
Meanwhile, in aquatic plant selection, up to a hundred indigenous aquatic plants like Taiwan
yellow water lilies have been introduced. In addition, activities such as Taiwan Lantern Festival,
Taoyuan Land Art Festival are also held in Chintan Park (Green Pond Park) at times in a bid
to attract tourists to experience the unique pond culture in Taoyuan through performances and
art installations.
