WEST TAMPA HOSTS JUNETEENTH CELEBRATION
Last Saturday, members of the com- munity gathered for their Annual June- teenth Celebration. The event took place on Main Street and the festivities were shared by the young and the ma- tured. Juneteenth is the oldest known celebration commemorating the end of slavery. The celebration dates back to June 19, 1865, when slaves in the State of Texas learned that they, along with slaves in all Confederate states, had been freed. Among some of the vendors on hand for the Juneteenth Celebration were representatives of Luz Smokin’ Grill. Shown in the photograph are: Luzon, Angelia, Joseph, Horne, John, and Adrian.
