Ratee Training
Ratees who receive training and understand the evaluation system
tend to be more committed to its goals
They should understand why the evaluation is being conducted,
how it will be used, and what their role is in the process
Training informs ratees of the levels of performance expected of
them
Rater Rater Training
Training Should receive training in the development of performance
standards and objectives, goal setting, observation, and recall and
documentation skills
Should learn how to complete the evaluation instruments, how to
give performance feedback, and how to avoid rating errors
Personal biases need to be removed from the rating process.
Training can be provided through a variety of methods: in workshops
conducted in-house by the HRM department or off-site by trainers from
universities or consulting firms or computer information technology (CIT)
tailored to the performance evaluation process
