BROOKLYN TRANSITION
KEEP OUR
COMMUNITY CLEAN
On Earth Day 2022, members volunteered to assist the
Rockaway Parkway Merchants Association with the clean-up of
the Merchants’ Corridor along Rockaway Parkway. The focus
of the clean-up was Rockaway Parkway from Glenwood Road
st
to Foster Avenue and Foster Avenue to 101 Street.
The group swept up several bags of trash from the streets and
sidewalks, removed tons of debris from storm drains that were blocked and even planted a few rose bushes and
other flowers. In addition, they displayed hand-written posters with messages that inspired awareness and
reminded everyone to keep their communities clean. (see photos)
EASTER EGG
HUNT
nd
On April 22 , six members of Brooklyn Transition
Lions Club assisted State Senator, Lion Roxanne J.
Persaud and her staff with their annual Easter Egg
Hunt, which was held at the Canarsie Park in
Brooklyn.
From 8.30am to 11.30am, over four thousand
(4,000) brightly colored eggs were hidden
throughout the park.
At the sound of the word “go” from Lion Senator
Persaud, parents had the pleasure of watching their
precious tots make a mad dash under the yellow
police tape to frantically scramble up as many eggs
as their tiny hands could grab. For their efforts, the
children were rewarded with an assortment of prizes
especially if they were fortunate to find a coveted,
golden egg. Additionally, they were handed goody
Respectfully submitted by, bags stuffed with sweets and other treats, to take
Lion Brenda Cox
home.
As always, the Lion Senator, her staff and co-
sponsors expressed their appreciation to club
members and other volunteers for helping to make
the event the great success that it was.
