community partners, including District 20- K1 Diabetes, Teal and
Vision Committees. NYPD 110th Precinct, Community Board 4,
Aetna, NY Life Insurance, Voices Latinas, Healthcare Education
Project, Oak Street Health, Metro Plus, Literacy Partners, Corona

Hospital of Montefiore, Latina Share,Triangle Americano, La
Joranda Food Pantry, and Coucilman Fransciso Moya, Council
Women Catalina Cruz.
We provided free resource material and informational literature on
the prevention and maintenance of Breast and Ovarian Cancer,
Lead Poisoning, Alzheimer’s Disease and Diabetes. Medical
professionals conducted Vision Screening and administered
COVID Testing with opportunity for vaccination, boosters and free
“At Home” Testing Kits. Confidential counseling on alcohol and
drug abuse was also available. Educators offered guidance on
children’s Reading Programs. Health Insurance providers
explained available support programs and food was distributed.
Lion Gwen had everyone dancing and working up a sweat with
Zumba.
Lion MaryAnn invited Mr. Frank Carter to share his story. He is a
double leg amputee, caused by diabetes. (see photo). But he
remains positive, and offers advice and hope to other diabetics.
The most beautiful moment was when he joined in the fun with
smiles and laughter and participated in the Zumba on his wheel
chair.
We thank all the Lions of District 20-K1 who supported us on this
wonderful event.
