BROOKLYN FIRST RESPONDERS LIONS CLUB
CHARTER NIGHT CELEBRATION WITH
BROOKLYN FIRST RESPONDERS
We were all born with the gift to serve!”
On Friday, March 25th Brooklyn First Responders Lions Club
held their Charter Night and Induction Ceremony at Dolce Vita
Restaurant.
Lion Dimple Willabus recognized the need for an authentic
service organization to support our “First Responders” who are
always “in harm’s way.” Like everyone else, they need supportive
resources and programs, especially in the area of mental health.
“The pandemic focused attention on the extra stress and longer
work hours of police officers like my husband who is a retired
U.S. Marine Corp veteran and NYPD Lieutenant. Self care is
extremely important but difficult to achieve when working long
hours,” she explained. “However, membership in an
organization like Lions Clubs International, that promotes
commitment to community service, a moral code of ethics,
healthy living, international friendship and fellowship, is a
golden opportunity for security, comfort and encouragement.”
Charter President Willabus concluded.
Police officers, teachers, doctors and other professionals were
among the twenty two charter members who were inducted by
District Governor Anthony Cochran before a sold out crowd of
family, friends and Lions. Special thanks to our sponsor,
Richmond Hill South Ozone Park Lions Club. Lion Romeo Hitlall,
Immediate Past President, presented the traditional gong and
banner to the newly installed Charter President Willabus. After
the pinning ceremony and distribution of membership
certificates, dinner was served.
Brooklyn First Responders Lions Club is grateful to DG Anthony
Cochran for his support, PDG Pauline Francis who performed the
duties of MC and PDG Audrey Doorn for her advice and
counseling as our Guiding Lion.
Regular general membership meetings are scheduled for the last
Friday of each month. For more information, feel free to reach
