    CROWN HEIGHTS AND BROOKLYN

          METROPOLIS CELEBRATES

             BLACK HISTORY MONTH

February is Black History Month. On February 17, 2022, in
the spirit of DG Anthony’s theme, “Growth Through
Service…….Teaming Together,” Brooklyn Crown Heights and
Metropolis Lions Clubs teamed up to celebrate our heritage
with the students and staff at Our Lady of Trust Catholic
    School in Canarsie, Brooklyn.

The students were presented with novels written by
African American authors. The novel “Jade’s Journey,
The New Normal” was donated by the author Julieann T.
Randall. It should be noted that Julieann is of Jamaican
heritage. The novel “Permission to Dream” written by
Chris Gardener, was donated by the Chris Gardener
    Foundation.

The students were very excited to be presented with those novels. Photo shows the students and staff of Our Lady of Trust
Catholic School, Lion Dr. Paulett Kenwood and Zone Chair Michael Yansen, (Brooklyn Crown Heights) and Lion Mac Campbell,
Candidate for 2 nd VDG (Metropolis). This community project was spearheaded by Lion Dr. Paulett Kenwood.

   IMPACTFUL SERVICE PROVIDERS

On March 16th, 2022, the club presented a shredder and a
variety of office and PPE supplies to the Coalition of Concerned
Medical Professionals (CCMP) which is a Volunteer Organization
located at 1542 Remsen Ave, Brooklyn.

We have a long standing relationship with CCMP. On a
regular weekly basis, our members volunteer to accompany
community residents to medical appointments. We also
assist with mailings, filing, telephone calls and preparing
meals for the other volunteers. (See photo)
Our members are truly meeting one of the goals of our Club
President "Meeting the needs of the community through
     impactful service."
