FIRST RESPONDERS LIONS ’
-
At a special Thanksgiving Prayer Service on Sunday, November 19, First Responders Lions and Leos
partnered with a local church in Brooklyn to distribute 300 baked pies to the community.
This was also an opportunity to recognize and celebrate our “First Responders” on International Men’s
Day.
In his address, Lion NYPD Lieutenant Winston Willabus (club secretary and Charter member)
emphasized the value of churches as partners in the community. He acknowledged the significance of
International Men ’s Day as a showcase of positive male role models, guiding youth to become productive
adults. This commemorative event also gave men a sense of pride in their responsibilities and
encouraged them to rise above their challenges and at the same time, help others to achieve success.
Senior Pastor Ellsworth Chester invited the First Responders to an altar call during the church service
and prayed with them for their families. Lion President Winston saluted him with a plaque that
complimented him for 30 years of dedicated service to this congregation.
