DIABETES
THE DIABETES COMMITTEE
MAKES TOMORROW BETTER THAN TODAY
The District 20-K1 Diabetes Committee conducted a walk in the Far Rockaway to promote World
Diabetes day funds raised from "Stepping to Save Our Children" were given to 2 libraries in Brooklyn and
Queens to assist children, young adults, those diagnosed with pre-diabetes parents of children with Type
1 diabetes and those newly diagnosed with diabetes to manage diabetes and reduce the complication of
diabetes.
In the attached photos. The district diabetes committee donated the sum of $500 each to 2 libraries.
Brooklyn Public Library, Rockaway Park and Avenue J, Canarsie, Brooklyn NY 11236. The presentation
was made to Mr. Thomas Muller, Manager of the Brooklyn Library.
A donation was made to the Queens Public Library on Sutphin Brooklyn in Queens to Bella Barclay,
branch manager. Lion Beverley Campbell, Diabetes Chairperson and Lion Collene Questelles, Cochair of
the diabetes committee. Books to be purchased include "Diabetes Don't Stop Maddie", Healthy at Last: A
plant-based Approach to Preventing Diabetes by NYC Mayor Eric Adams.
