Chayei Adam - K’lal 148 - Laws of Lulav & Daled Minim

                                                                96
13 regarding smelling the esrog and hadasim. The lulav however, may not be
moved on Shabbos, even if one needs to use it or the place it occupies, as
                                                     97
previously stated in hilchos Shabbos. On yom tov, one may return the esrog to
the stuffing it was placed in before yom tov, because its scent has already been
absorbed into it. He may not, however, wrap it in other stuffing or a garment
because he imparts its scent into the fabric which is considered repairing a
utensil. Although he does not intend to do so, it is nevertheless certain to
                      98
              happen.

it. (Magen Avraham) See however the Taz difference between smelling hadasim and
who disagrees, and the Elya Rabba who smelling an esrog. See previous note.
dismisses this comparison since a fragrant fruit
is also for smelling; an esrog on Succos is 97. A lulav serves no purpose and is like a
