Installing New Rubber Rails
**Note all measurements must be taken consistently throughout the lifespan of the rubber
rails. Please make sure measurements are taken the same way each time.
Tooling Required
*All tooling should be calibrated and in good
condition. Using improper or damaged tooling
can result in false readings and incorrect
reporting.
*Calibrated 6-inch caliper: Shown Starrett 799
digital caliper.
*Tape measure: if possible use a metric tape
measure to avoid the need for conversion.
Measuring Before Install
Before rubber rails are installed initial measurements need to be established to
confirm a baseline starting height. The initial height will be used to track engine
sagging and rail crush and will ultimately be used to establish rubber rail health.
• Starting with a complete set of rails, mark each rail section in the location it
will be placed. Using a 624 as an example will have 3 rubber rails per side,
start on A bank front (Flywheel) to rear (damper). illustration 1a notes
required measurement points on type 624. note factory new rail should
measure 80MM, though variances of 2mm are possible
