Radio Provides flight information service to a limited extent (e.g.
wind, runway in use, runway condition)
Radio is not an air traffic service unit.
E.g. Herning Radio
AFIS Aerodrome Flight Information Service provides flight
information service for aerodrome traffic at uncontrolled
sites where the type or intensity of traffic requires a more
comprehensive flight information service than that provided
by the radio station.
AFIS uses suffix INFORMATION
E.g. Stauning Information
Information Flight information center, from which flight information
service is provided in a larger area.
E.g. Copenhagen Information.
Apron Provides flight information service on aprons or parking areas
at major airports. The service may issue certain instructions if
this is locally determined.
E.g. Kastrup Apron.
Just as the air traffic controller may abbreviate your call sign, you may abbreviate
call signs on the above-mentioned service units.
You may simply say either the place name or the service unit.
E.g. Herning Radio may become Herning or Radio.
Remember that the initial call must be with the full call sign! You may only
abbreviate the station's call sign when a secure connection has been established
and no misunderstandings can arise.
