Don’t Make Me Say I Told You So viii
going to the beach, playing in the park, or just lying on the grass
watching the clouds roll by. I couldn’t do that because of the
need for money. Making sure that we had a home to live in, cars
to drive, and food on the table dictated that I get up and go to
work every day.
In retirement, having money means having the ability to travel
to visit your kids or grandkids whenever you choose. It means
having the ability to pay for a family vacation that includes your
children and grandchildren. It means having the money to take
your wife on that dream trip to Europe you’ve talked about all
those years. In short, money can buy you time with friends and
family.
Money allows you to do the things you want to do. Maybe
you’ve dreamed about becoming a gourmet chef. Maybe you’ve
always wanted to play the top 20 golf courses in the world.
Perhaps you would like to volunteer to teach impoverished
children in Appalachia. In any case, all of these things have one
thing in common: they will require that you have adequate free
time and financial resources.
