College Scholarship Surprise

The Opportunity Scholarship Fund, Presented by the Halmos Family—
On Thursday, June 18, 2021, the children and families of Jack & Jill
Center gathered to tour their brand-new, state-of-the-art elementary
school building, Madelaine Halmos Academy, for the very first time and
to celebrate the year of success ahead in the now fully-operational
facility. Little did they know that a life-changing surprise announcement
would be unveiled for them!

Thanks to the immense generosity of The Halmos Family, each Madelaine
Halmos Academy student who continues his or her education to graduate
from high school will receive a two-year college scholarship from the Jack
& Jill Center Opportunity Scholarship Fund! This outstanding college
scholarship is currently awarded to the children enrolled in the Madelaine
Halmos Academy.

"Madelaine and I hope to give kids from high-need families the same
opportunity to live the American Dream that we've had. That opportunity
is built on a foundation of a great education," said Steve Halmos, honorary
co-chair of the Madelaine Halmos Academy Capital Campaign.

The Jack & Jill Center Opportunity Scholarship Fund aligns with Jack &
Jill Center's credo of giving families a hand up, not a handout. In order to
receive the scholarship, students will be required to do their part and
graduate high school and will receive a mentor to guide them.

“They have to work hard, they have to stay in school, they have to stay off
drugs, they have to get decent grades, and they have to graduate high
school,” Steve said, “but if they’ll do that, they know they have a college
scholarship awaiting them.”

This scholarship program, available for every Madelaine Halmos Academy
student, is unparalleled to other elementary schools in Florida and across
the nation. Not only that, it is a dream come true for Jack & Jill Center
children and families who are working hard to reach their full potential.
