supervision can have harmful side effects. Likewise,
over the counter drugs. In general, we are better off
without them.
Smoking cigarettes has the potential of
shortening a person’s life by a great deal. In fact,
not only shorten a person’s life but also make them
sick in many ways. I know we do see some young
people who smoke, and they imagine, “If I get
cancer in twenty years when I’m forty, I’ll be an old
fogy at that point in time.” Or more commonly,
“Cancer happens, but it won’t happen to me.” It is
amazing how time passes, and before you know it,
you are forty years old, and you have a couple of
young children running around your beautiful
home. I promise you that you won’t want to be sick
at that time or any time. You will want to be as
healthy as can be, so you can enjoy your life and
your family for 100 years or more.
Another pitfall is drinking alcohol to excess.
This is especially dangerous when in combination
with driving a motor vehicle. Forget about it! When
I think of my friends who died at an early age,
usually drinking and driving was involved. I grew
up during the Vietnam War era, but all of my
