Intuitive, first impressions of areas such as those highlighted above
should be built on. Try to identify key problems, assumptions, etc. and
why they are critical.
This will allow you to begin making sense of the material by reading
and studying particular sections of it more thoroughly. For example, at
this point a broad approach may be attempted through recourse to a
simple + or - scale rating of these areas. This helps to draw attention
to those areas, which immediately jump out as requiring further
attention.
Position each of the columns as a + or a -
to represent the contribution each makes to
+ the overall strength of the organization.

A further aid, at this point, is the recognition that TIME plays a major role
in case analysis. Consequently, any initial reading of the case is likely to
throw up differences between the areas under examination either between
the beginning and end of the case or before and after a critical event.
