The number of you who took the time to gather here is a testament to how important
Sivaraman annai was in many of our lives. We certainly benefited from his wisdom and
advice, whether it be about a house or buying a car - Sivaraman annai never hesitated to
volunteer his time for a car inspection or an open house inspection. He was full of
compassion. He loved helping others. Even when he got sick, he never stopped. Thank
you.
Sivaraman annai taught us a few life lessons. As swami Vivekananda said, “We are the
creator of our own destiny. All the strength and success we want are within us”.
Through his life Sivaraman annai made us realise this. Even during his sickness or after
major surgeries, he never complained about anything. With a smiling face we always
worked for the welfare of his world. He was such an inspiration.
The Tamil tradition is being late everywhere. Consciously or unconsciously we also
practiced this Tamil tradition everywhere except for Sivaraman annai’s house. ‘Being on
time’ was his motto. He practiced what he preached.
Sivaraman will be the first one to wish us a happy birthday every year. How you
managed to do that, we do not know. It really hurts to think that you are no longer here
to wish us a happy birthday anymore.
I will finish with the reading from Bhagavat Gita: No one who does good work will never
come to a bad end, either here or in the world to come. I would also take this time to
convey my sincere condolences to his immediate and extended family. Om Shanthi.

Maama was renowned for being a helpful and thoughtful man. At every family event he
would bring bags of karuveppilai, handpicked from his tree to give to everyone. He not
only remembered to give karuvepillai but he had an incredible ability to remember
everyone’s birthdays and anniversaries. No matter where he is, at the hospital, at home,
he will always wish us on our birthday.
An activity that me and maama did together was to play carrom, he would get so excited
to play with me that when I was in year 12, he was counting down the weeks for me to
finish school, to play with me. I still remember when I went to his house after exams, I
could see from the corner of my eye that he was putting the carrom board on the table,
adjusting the chairs and leveling the powder on the board, preparing to play a
tournament with me.
I did not realise how many hearts that maama had touched until now. Everyone was so
appreciative of his help and commitment to being a loyal friend. Which made me realise
that maama is the epitome of the proverb: Actions speak louder than words. He will
never gloat about what he did or ask people what he should do, he would just do it and
