DECADE: 1990s

I have spent my professional career as a textile and carpet designer. As a fine artist, I
work in both painting and fiber.

Romare Bearden has been an inspiration. His inclusion of fabrics within painted
surfaces blurs the lines between painting, textiles and collage. This artwork is made
entirely from textiles, stretched like
canvas, assembled with stitching
instead of glue.

Weave Structure refers to the
1990s; its exaggerated
herringbone textile and geometric
shapes evoke the fashions of that
era.
