DECADE: 1980s
I started as a fiber artist in high school when I won a contest for a free add in Seventeen
Magazine with my stuffed animals. When my mother sent me all the wool she had
stripped for braided rugs I developed a line of quilted wool and denim clothing. Interest
in my designs had me putting them in pattern form and selling at quilt shows. All the
wonderful quilts at these shows inspired me to use some of my husband's designs in art
quilts. In this turbulent world we are currently living in, it is my hope that the viewer will
find beauty and peace in viewing my quilts, or a joy in creativity if using my patterns or
books.
Influenced by my husbands work, O’Keeffe’s New Mexico depicts a pyramid and skull
rising from the mountains of the American Southwest.
