ACS honors 3M for Tegaderm™ CHG Chlorohexidine Gluconate I.V. Securement
Dressing, used globally by clinicians and is clinically proven to reduce catheter-
related bloodstream infections (CRBSI). These dressings integrate the powerful
effectiveness of the CHG antimicrobial with a Tegaderm transparent dressing
to support clinical best practices and protocols.
Robert (Bob) Asmus
Bob Asmus retired after 39 years with 3M as a Corporate Scientist. Bob joined 3M after earning a
B.S. in Chemistry and Physics and a M.S. in Polymers and Coatings from North Dakota State
University. Bob championed the use of formulation science, antimicrobial chemistry, and process
design to create several impactful product platforms.
James (Jim) DiZio
James DiZio graduated as a Civil Engineer from University of Massachusetts, Amherst, worked as a
Mechanical Engineer at Carrier Corp, Syracuse NY and received a Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from
University of Illinois, Campaign/Urbana. He has worked at 3M for 30 years and is currently a Senior
Division Scientist.
Dan Duan
Dan Duan was an undergraduate at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and holds a
Ph.D. from Caltech (Peter Dervan’s group). Dan has been at 3M for 39 years working on materials
for medical applications, drug delivery, and electret materials. Dan is currently a Lead Research
Specialist in the Corporate Research Materials Laboratory.
