Acappella Sounds Chorus (continued)
Living in the metropolitan area of Montreal, we have a very multicultural population. This is
apparent in our chorus. Of our 40 members, as many as one quarter (10) were not born in Canada.
Recently, an octet formed that particularly reflects the diversity of our chorus members. Its
members come from 5 different countries (Canada, Guyana, Trinidad & Tobago, Philippines and
Sudan, with only 3 having English as their mother tongue. There is also a total of 6 different
accents. They are named “Blended Accents” for obvious reasons. The make-up of our chorus
presents challenges when it comes to vowel matching but it is this diversity that makes us who we
are and more than makes up for it!
