Qur’ān The Islamic sacred book, believed to be the word of Allāh
SWT as dictated to Muhammad SAW by the Gabriel and
written down in Arabic. The Qur’ān consists of 114 units
of varying lengths, known as surah; the first surah is said
as part of the ritual prayer. These touch upon all aspects
of human existence, including matters of doctrine, social
organization, and legislation.

Rabbāniyyah Divine revelation that the ultimate goal of Muslims is to
attain Allāh’s love and pleasure (riḍwān Allāh SWT)
Ribā Interest, increase, addition or growth, though it is usually
translated as 'usury'
Ribā al-buyū' Sale-based ribā
Ribā al-duyūn Debt-based ribā
Ribā al-faḍl Ribā by virtues excess of one of the counter values (ribawi
items) that falling under same kind (nau’) not basis/genus
(jins)
Ribā al-nasī’ah Ribā by virtue of deferment in time of counter values
(ribawi item) that belong to the same basis/genus (jins)
and kind (nau’)
Ribā al-qarḍ Any benefit imposed upfront by virtue of lending money
regardless whether the borrower will default in the future
or not
Ribā al-jāhiliyyah Additional benefit imposed on the borrower attributed to
borrower default in repaying the sum borrowed with the
stipulated time
Ribawi items The six substances (items) that are sold by weight and
measure, literally: gold, silver, dates, wheat, salt and
barley.
Ribḥ Profit
Risālah An institution of prophethood, which brings the revealed
guidance in all dimensions of human life from Allāh SWT
