3. Talk about man’s humanistic pride and Satan’s desire to rule over the nations.
Read Psalm 33:10-11 showing that God is in ultimate control.
4. Read Daniel 2:31-43 and discuss the possible meaning of the passage. (The
kingdoms represent different empires, eg Roman Empire, set up to control parts
of the world, but they only last as long as God permits.) Ultimately, every knee
will bow before King Jesus.
5. God has ordained that we live in Europe at this time and we, in the United
Kingdom, are blessed with a godly monarch to rule over us. Read Acts 17:26.
6. Give the children individual maps of Europe. Use a large floor map or European map on an
acetate to name the European nations. The children can fill in their maps at the same time,
adding seas, colouring each nation a different colour, etc.
7. Allow the children time to wait on God to see if he gives them a European nation
which they can pray for, at least during the term of the project.
8. Extra activities can be added to reinforce the names of the European nations.
Eg jigsaws, surveys of European nations visited by the children, alphabetically
ordered lists of the nations.
9. Some of the Bible verses mentioned in the first two lessons could be written out in
handwriting lessons or for homework. Acts 17:26 could be copied on the sheet
Learning for Life
The children should begin to appreciate that, despite all that we see around us, God is in control and is
sovereign over all the nations. One day everyone will acknowledge that fact.
