b) We can live as we please without reference to others
c) All religions are equally valid
d) A desire for uniformity rather than unity, respecting our differences
5. Give each child a world map to fill in the continents, using atlases. Oceans and seas
could be named too.
6. Let the children use pins and name cards to mark the countries where they know
people, especially those who are Christians. Take time to pray for those in other
countries.
7. Draw the children’s attention to our continent of Europe, comparing its size with the
other continents.
Learning for Life
Hopefully, the children will appreciate God’s heart for all nations, whether or not they
respond to him. We trust that Habakkuk’s vision be sown in the heart of every child.
THE SOVEREIGNTY OF GOD
Truth to Teach
Satan’s desire is to rule over all the nations and, through the centuries, Satan has led
individuals and groups to try to control all, or parts, of the world. However, God is always in ultimate
control of all that happens on the earth.
Psalm 33:10-11 ‘The Lord foils the plans of the nations, he thwarts the purposes of the peoples.
But the plans of the Lord stand firm forever, the purposes of his heart through
all generations.’
God has determined that we should live in Europe at this time.
Acts 17:26 ‘From one man he made every nation of men, that they should inhabit the whole earth;
and he determined the times set for them and the exact places where they should live.’
Way to Work
1. Review the previous lesson.
2. Let the children imagine what the world would be like if everyone acknowledged God and
sought to obey him as Jesus did when he was on earth. Contrast this with the present
situation, referring to wars, Communism, etc.
