Enjoying Words
Weeks 11-12: Writing their own version of part of the Christmas story (or all of it spread over two weeks) or
Writing a letter to someone abroad or
Writing a letter of thanks to those who help in school
The Christmas story can be split up into two sections:
o God’s plan for Mary and saying yes to him.
o Jesus’ visitors – shepherds and kings
It would be beneficial to have read or retold the story to the children prior to them being asked to write it for
themselves.
Use some relevant pictures to stimulate the children in their writing, and to give them ideas for illustrating
their work at the end.
