NUMEROUS NOUNS

Genesis 2:20 ‘And Adam gave names to all cattle, and to the fowl of the air and
to every beast of the field.
¾ To review Y3 and Y4 teaching on nouns.
¾ Nouns are the names of people, places and things.
¾ Review common, proper, singular, plural and collective nouns.
¾ Introduce abstract nouns as naming feelings or ideas.
¾ Every sentence has a noun or pronoun and a verb.
¾ To re-envision the children on the importance of using correct words in
communication to serve their listeners and readers.
Way to Work (Means)
1. Ask the children why it is important to know how to speak and write correctly.
(To ensure understanding; to facilitate communication; to serve the listeners of
spoken English and the readers of written English)
2. Remind the children of the story of Adam naming the animals using nouns.
3. Ask the children how they would define a noun – the name of a person, place
or thing. Remind them that every sentence has a noun or pronoun, and a verb,
e.g. Jesus wept. He wept.
4. Talk about the different types of noun: -
x Common noun
x Proper noun
x Singular noun
x Plural noun
x Collective noun
