Y5 Autumn Term Part 1. CW Lesson 3
5. Remind the children of other verbs to use in their writing instead of ‘said’.
E.g. stated, responded, replied, answered, shouted, yelled, whispered
6. Let the children write sentences about what they did yesterday, what they are
doing today and what they plan to do tomorrow. Encourage them to use
interesting verbs and to underline them.
Alternatively, they could complete the worksheet. More able children may be
able to make verbs from given words as at the bottom of the sheet. More
words could be written for them to change into verbs to put into sentences,
e.g. invention, creation, celebration, education.
7. Gather to share their writing, if time allows.
Learning for Life (Fulfilment)

three tenses.
2. They should appreciate the importance of using a singular noun with a singular
verb, and a plural noun with a plural verb.
3. They will be more aware of words to use other than ‘said’ in their stories.
