THELMA SHERE TOURNAMENT
The 6th running of the Thelma Shere Tournament was held at the Exmouth Pavilion on a day of
Sunshine and 14 degrees C, long before the rains came. The event was organised in aid of the
Cullompton Friends Charity Force.
132 Short Mat Bowlers from Devon, Somerset and Dorset were welcomed by the Exmouth
Town Cryer. After a full days bowling Gnomeless of Biddisham (Fred Millard, Bobby McDonnell,
Pauline & Geoff Nutty finished on top with an undefeated 8 points and a crucial shots plus of
38. Anstey, Richard Kennedy, Peter Wood, Roger Wilson and Cecil Henderson finished second
also on 8 points but were 11 shots worse of at plus 28.
Wonford, Shirley Parnell, Maggie Smith, Marie & Pam Toleman finished third and having
drawn one of their games had 7 points and a plus of 29 shots. Wendy Pring, a fundraiser for
Cullompton Friends Charity Force, presented the trophies and certificates and in turn received a
cheque for £550 for the charity.
