The Holiday Pairs competition took
place at The Deannes Sports College
and was sponsored by Warman
Leisure, with eighteen players from the
following clubs: Canvey Island FC;
East Hanningfield; East Tilbury; Falcon;
Hatfield Peverel; Island; Outwood
Common B.C; Sanguine; Springhouse;
Whitehall; Willows Park; Warren Heath

The teams played in three groups in a Round Robin format, each game consisting of 10 ends.
The top three from each group went forward into the Main Competition and the remainder played
in the Plate Competition.
The group results were as follows: Group A: 1st Del and Chris Coates; 2nd Steve Killington
and Paul Bax East Hanningfield); 3rd Nigel Reed Woodlands) and Dave Sifford (East Hanning-
field); 4th Christine and Paul Reed (Island); 5th Josie Robinson (Sanguine) and Brenda Crowe
(Canvey Island FC) and 6th Colin Moul and Peter Skippen (Whitehall).
Group B: 1st Pauline Child and Eileen Smith-Allen (East Tilbury); 2nd Barbara Johns and
Brian Garnett (Canvey Island FC); 3rd Haley Clayton and Roy Mann (Canvey Island FC); 4th
Jeff Hodgkins and Keith Johns (Canvey Island FC); 5th Denise Martin and Rod Cumming (Can-
vey Island FC) and 6th Chris Brown and Doreen Thompson (Willows Park).
Group C: 1st Maureen Binstead and Alan Kay (Outwood Common); 2nd Peggy May (Fal-
con) and Colin Addis (Warren Heath); 3rd Jackie and Steve Spooner (Hatfield Peverel); 4th Mar-
garet and Gary Sutton (Canvey Island FC); 5th
Victor Boreham and Matt Skippen (Whitehall)
and 6th Gerry Clarke and Geoff Dodd.
It was necessary to have Preliminary Knock
Outs for both the Main and Plate Competitions.
The Spooners overcame Haley Clayton and Roy
Mann to proceed to the Main Knockouts and
Chris Brown and Doreen Thompson beat Gerry
Clarke and Cliff Dodd to continue in the Plate
competition.
In the Main Quarter Finals: Del and Chris
beat Jackie and Steve; Peggy and Colin beat
Barbara and Brian; East Hanningfield beat East Pairs Plate Finalists Paul & Christine

Tilbury and; Mo and Alan had a tight game with Reed with winners Josie Robinson

Nigel and Dave but won 9:8. and Brenda Crowe

The Semi Finals saw last year’s finalists
prevailing to manage a repeat of last year’s Final with Steve Killington and Paul Bax retaining
their title with Del and Chris Coates as Runners Up. The Final of the Plate saw a re-run of one
of the Group A games but this time Josie Robinson and Brenda Crowe came out on top beating
Christine and Paul Reed.
Well done everyone who took part and a big thank you to: Peter Fautley for all the work he
put into organising and running the event and producing the Programme; Lesley Fautley for giv-
ing up her day to keep the results up to date, organising the refreshments and raffle and; Steve
Killington, Paul Bax and all the others that helped set up the mats and put them away.
