The opening evening was as usual taken up
with a “get to know everyone” Bowls Drive,
with Vionne Thornhill, Mark Worrall, Tom
Still & Graham Keeley emerging as the win-
ners.
The second event to be completed
was the evening Singles. After two evenings
play, a father and son final was on the cards
but alas Chris Whyte beat Erik Hasker,
Bowls drive Winners Vionne Thornhill, whilst Pauline Nutty beat Chris Hasker.

after eight of the ten ends the scores were
level at 6 all but two singles over the closing ends gave Chris
Whyte an 8 - 6 victory over Pauline Nutty.
In the Pairs semi-finals, Jill & Robin Quarterman edged
past john & Rita Redstone 10 - 6. Whilst Selwyn Jenkins &
Bernard Jenkins were always in command beating Keith Wood
& Wayne Read 12 - 7. Bernard & Selwyn kept up the same
form in taking a 7-0 lead after five ends and despite a fightback
from Jill & Robin they eventually won 9 - 4.
