                            Minty’s rink in the money
Norfolk’s Jack Barrett, Keith Cooke, Chris Mann & David Lamb
reached the final of the International Open Fours at Havering IBC.
Despite losing the final to Peter Fautley, Tony Ealham, Steve Killing-
ton & Anthony Fautley of Essex they will be delighted to have col-
lected £300 prize money for finishing second.
Two groups of six rinks competed for the semi-final places and
the Norfolk rink’s tally of six points earned them the runner-up spot
in Group B. A 16-7 win against Malcolm Follis and a 9-8 win against
M Beattie, and draws against Chris Williams & Adam Sultana, sent them through to face the win-
ning rink from Group A. David Lamb’s four beat L Haddon’s rink by 7-6 to earn a place in the final
while Anthony Fautley’s rink beat Matt Sifford’s rink 10-6 in the other semi-final. Lamb had already
met Fautley’s rink in Group B where Essex had won by 19-4 and once again the Norfolk rink could
not overcome the strong Essex four.
In the International Open Pairs Chris Mann & David Lamb were again in great form and fin-
ished top of Group D with four straight wins. In the quarter-finals they beat P Mills’ pair 12-9 to
claim a semi-final place. This proved to be the end of their day though as they lost 11-4 to Keith
Alders & Malcolm Follis but it still earned them an £80 pay-out.
Jack Barrett & Keith Cooke finished runners-up in Group E after beating C Nordin 13-5, L
           Lane 9-8 & J Bucknall 9-6. They faced a preliminary round match against Group B runner-up L
Haddon who’s pairing hit top form winning by 15-0. The International Open Pairs final was won by
Allan Williams & James Trott of Devon who beat Keith Alders & Malcolm Follis of West Mids.

The second Potter’s East Coast Triples & Pairs event
proved an outstanding success. A great finish to the
East Coast Triples saw Anglian Windows skip Mike
Boswell beat Carlton Colville’s Margaret Barley on
shots with both tied on 27 points after four days play.
In the East Coast Pairs there was an emotional
win for Paul Cairns & Tony Orpin of Essex side East
Hanningfield who beat Margaret & Malcolm Reynolds
of RG Carter in the final.
