Winners Winkleigh in green with out the day. Each team played four
runners-up Camelford in white. seven end games.
                                                                             Camelford, led by Ian Clement
were 3 - 6 down going into the last but one end against Torrington but a two and single gave
them a draw and thus salvaging a point but this loss of a point turned out to be costly at the
end of the day.. Winkleigh, led by Lorraine Axtell, last year’s winners, were pushed hard by
              Wick but came through 7 - 4.
In the next round Camelford struck with an 11 - 3 victory over Merton, who did not per-
form up to their usual standards on the day. Winkleigh found it tough going against
Christchurch and were made to sweat on the last end with Christchurch almost scoring a three
to draw the match but in the end they scored two and Winkleigh scraped home 6 - 5.
After a really nice lunch with Morwenstow’s usual hospitality, it was back to the fray. In
              their third game Camelford nearly
dropped a three on the last end,
which would have given Wick a draw
              but a two resulted in a 6 - 5 win for
              Camelford. Winkleigh were strug-
              gling against Torrington and despite
winning four of the six ends played
went into the last end 4 - 5 down but
they held their nerve to take a three
              and a 7 - 5 victory.
                    Camelford’s last game of the
day started with a single but they
then dropped a five on the next end.
however, not to be outdone they im-
mediately struck back with a five of
their own and after an exchange of
singles they won 8 - 6. this left them
