Today more than ever it is key that librarians, as a profession, come together to promote Media and
Information Literacy (MIL) to foster social inclusion and intercultural dialogue in all regions of our planet.
This year’s theme, “Resisting Disinfodemic: Media and Information Literacy for everyone and, by everyone,”
reflects the central role of librarians in helping citizens become informed consumers and creators of
information and media. United we, our global library field with IFLA, must continue positioning libraries
everywhere as strong leaders to address disinformation and help communities move successfully towards
development to better the education, lifelong learning, skills, and knowledge of individuals in the
communities we serve. My recognition to the transformational contributions of our Global Library Field
during the Global Media and Information Literacy (MIL) Week.
Appreciation to the Department of Information Studies and Library Management at the East West University
for highlighting the remarkable work libraries do in this area.
