UP AND AWARE - 8

                  1. What do you think is the best way to decide about whether or not
                        schools should serve junk food?

                  2. How many of you would like to have at least some junk food items
                        available in the school canteen?

                  3. What are the different perspectives/reasons that need to be
considered when thinking about whether or not this ban is fair?

                  4. Who is harmed by allowing junk food in school? For example, learners
who are obese or have health problems like diabetes.

                  5. Who is harmed by banning junk food in school?

                  6. How can we find a balance between different points of view?

Taking all the different perspectives into consideration, how could you make the junk food
                rule fairer?

‘Choices made, whether bad or good, follow you forever and affect everyone in
their path one way or another.’

                                                                                      —J E B Spredemann

                        Exercise and Discuss:

Every street, road and highway has a speed limit for
cars and vehicles. Streets in residential areas, where
people and children walk, have a slower speed limit
while highways, which have less people traffic,

allow higher speeds for vehicles. So, while people
are free to drive, they must do so within a speed limit.

If there were no decided speed limit, there would be
more accidents and a threat to pedestrians as well as

                other vehicles.
