‘Patriotism’ means a strong sense of loyalty towards one’s country.
A nation is defined by three things:
• its outline in a map
• its language
• its culture
In 1947, India was declared an independent country and it brought together many
languages, diverse arts, music, cuisine, literature, customs and traditions.
India’s struggle for independence has inspired many other countries fighting for their
freedom for one unique principle that was demonstrated to her people by Mahatma
Gandhi—ahimsa or non-violence.
