CHAPTER Respect for UP AND AWARE - 8
One’s Nation
(Problem Solving)
Beginning:
The Constitution of India or Bharatiya Sanvidhan is a set of rules and
principles that all persons can agree upon as the basis of how they want
the country to be governed. The Constitution states the powers and duties
of a government and the rights and responsibilities of an Indian citizen.
The citizens of India enjoy fundamental rights of equality, freedom,
cultural and educational rights, right to practise one’s religion, right to
constitutional remedies and right against exploitation.
In turn, the Constitution expects Indian citizens to respect the National
Flag and National Anthem. Amongst our other duties are to respect
women, other religions and languages, and our collective culture; to
protect our environment; to achieve and excel, and to defend the country
when called to do so.
