Think about:

Can you think about one thing that only women can do and men cannot? How did you
learn about this?

A person’s gender is social.

Paired Exercise:

Take partners for this exercise to role play scenarios opposite to your gender. If you are a
boy, enact a girl and vice versa.

Here are the scenarios. Each role play has a starter sentence to be spoken by the boy (or
the girl role playing as a boy, if it is not a co-ed school). The girl has to keep asking ‘why’ to
question the boy’s statements until the boy cannot answer it further or until the girl thinks

that the boy’s reasons are unfair.

At that point, the girl will stop the boy and both partners will write down the statement in
the spaces below. Also write how you felt saying and listening.

After all the role plays have been enacted, share with the class.

Situation 1:
Boy (girl role playing a boy): Girl (boy role playing a girl):

You can’t play
