JISCE ACAF EVENT
Jornada Impacto Social Compartiendo Experiencias
Day of Sharing Social Impact Experiences
On March 21, 2024 FOC and ACAF hosted a powerful
community development event entitled Jornada
Impacto Social Compartiendo Experiencias (JISCE).
In English, A Day of Sharing Social Impact Successes,
brought together community leaders interested in
the area of community development from across all
of Chimbote. About 40 Peruvian community leaders
from law enforcement, education, private businesses,
and governmental social services attended the event
designed to enhance FOC and ACAF’s partnerships on
the ground in Chimbote. It is our belief that by investing
our time and energy in local alliances we can greatly
increase the results and scope of our work.
FOC and ACAF professionals partnered to share their
recent successes in four areas of our community development work in the upper Cambio Puente area of Chimbote. Water for
All, Education including scholarships and the Cambio Puente Learning Center, Seed Capital, and Better House Better Life were
all highlighted. Staff shared their perspectives and keys for success, as did beneficiaries. Everyone who spoke agreed that
successful partnership between FOC and ACAF begins with listening and faith. Three Mejor Casa, Mejor Vida partners shared
their journey and how living in a new home has allowed them to take control of their lives. In addition, with the support of seed
capital they were able to begin to earn income by starting their own small businesses. Three scholarship recipients also shared
the transformational impact that scholarships have had on their lives.
The people in attendance were visibly moved by the difference FOC and ACAF are having on supporting transformation on a
personal and community level. The evening's program highlighted what FOC and ACAF have known for years. When given the
opportunity people living in the poorest communities we serve are capable of so much when they are empowered and loved!
The desire of those in attendance to work together was a key success in what we believe will be more successful partnerships
with the government, other NGOs, businesses, and faith based organizations in the short and long term.
Maruja Memorial Kitchen Update
Tammy Campbell, Sister Peggy, Jorge Villar
As you can see from these pictures the Maruja Memorial Kitchen continues to take
shape. The space will provide visitors with a place to share meals and fellowship as
they spend time doing Gospel inspired work of serving the “least of my brothers and
sisters”. The increased hygiene and capacity of the kitchen is a tremendous blessing
to our work in Chimbote.
