DAY123
4 MONTHS OLD TODAY
Unbelievable! Alyssa is 4 months old today, and she has never
seen her own bed yet. But one day very soon!
Alyssa didn’t sleep very much last night, so they cut her cortisol
dosage in half again. Her blood pressure is still very high, so
they increased her blood pressure medicine. The
Endocrinologist will be seeing her Monday to determine the
next course of action.
Today, Dr. Murphy told the care team to let Heidi begin giving
Alyssa some breast milk in a bottle and “see what she can do”.
They started with 5 ml and by the last feeding of the day were at
15 ml (still only 3 teaspoons, but a start). Tomorrow, they will go
up by 5 ml every 6 hours.
We are praying that there will be no more intestinal issues and
that Alyssa can be on full feeds with regular bowel movement
very soon now. We are also praying that her adrenal gland and
blood pressure issues will be resolved.
Heidi called me last night to request a special prayer request
from our family of prayer warriors for three of the babies near
them in the NICU and their parents. Even though we have all
been on a very long roller coaster ride with Alyssa, we can finally
see the end coming. The parents of Nicolo, Trent, and Luke do
not have an end it sight: Nicolo had almost half of his intestines
removed because of a severe case of Necrotizing Enterocolitis
(NEC). Trent has been on a respirator for over 100 days. Every
attempt to remove him has failed. Luke was diagnosed to have a
genetic defect. His parents are devastated.
Thank you for your faithfulness, your hearts, and most
importantly for your prayers.
