DAY128

                        WAKE UP ALYSSA

              WE ARE GOING HOME TODAY

Yes, it is true; Alyssa, Heidi, and Jim are finally going home
TODAY. Just as Heidi had asked, the care team gave them no
advanced warning this time (every other time, a major setback
occurred that changed everything). Maggie, the primary nurse,
just came to Heidi and Jim and told them today is the day!
Doctor Antune had just told Maggie, so she didn’t even have a
chance to make the sign that she was planning to hang on
Alyssa’s crib. After her hearing test that was schedule for 1:00
PM, they were free to go home.

Jim fed her a “bottle for the road” with her last dose of medicine
from the NICU. Heidi got Alyssa all dressed up for the very
special occasion. They placed her in her car seat. And they left
          the NICU

Alyssa smiled a lot as they carried her in the car seat down to the
car. And she was the perfect baby during the 2-hour car ride.
She saw sunlight for the first time! She saw new things and new
movements. It was a totally new world for her.

By 6:30 PM, they were in their own home. Alyssa was in her own
crib. Heidi fed Alyssa in her own rocking chair. Alyssa got to lie
on a blanket on her own living room floor and just explore her
          own new surroundings.
Blessed are those who trust in the Lord and

have made the Lord their hope and

                                                                                  confidence. Jeremiah 17: 7
