Isn’t it great more 80’s festivals are popping up in the USA like they have been for years in Europe?
Yes, we definitely see a resurgence in our genre. There’s nothing like live music and the festival vibe is like nothing else. With
the help of Sirius XM’s Hair Nation (which is one of their most popular channels), we seen a lot of festivals popping up around
the country for bands like us. We’ve also seen The Monsters Of Rock Cruise selling out every year. It’s great seeing more and
more people getting up the courage to become promoters and having success putting on concerts in their areas.
Looking back at the American Music Awards in 1992, FireHouse won the award for Favorite Heavy Metal/Hard Rock
New Artist. Firehouse was chosen over Nirvana and Alice in Chains. Now looking back is that one of your proudest
Firehouse moments?
It was definitely one of the highlights of our career, but I’d say I’m more grateful than proud. We’ve had a lot of these moments,
but thanks to all the fans who voted for us that year, that American Music Award legitimized our band. I’m extremely grateful for
that. I’m grateful today when I hear our song on the radio. I’m grateful to go onstage every night with the extraordinarily talented
guys in this band. They are all amazing performers. I’m grateful for our crew who works so hard under sometimes brutal
conditions to make our shows happen even in extreme adversity. I’m most grateful to our fans who still come out to rock with us,
sing along with us and make us feel like what we’re doing is making a difference in their lives.
We just had the Seventh Anniversary of Jani Lane’s Death last week. You did allot of touring with Warrant, what fond
memories do you have of knowing him.
He was such a great singer. I never heard him have a bad night and he sang some extremely challenging material. He also had
a great sense of humor. I have so many great memories, but my most recent memory is playing one of the guitar solos on the
last song that he recorded which is called “Sin”. It’s a dark song and Jani sang it with great emotion. He had phenomenal talent.
I’m really happy today Warrant who continue to take their great music to the fans with Robert Mason singing their legacy songs
SO well. They’ve written and recorded a lot of killer new music as well. I know Jani would be smiling ear to ear knowing how
great that band sounds today and how the fans love Warrant like they do.
What’s Firehouse’s touring schedule look like the rest of this year?
We’ll have about 60 shows this year which is a pretty kick ass year for us. Our booking agency, ARM Entertainment, does an
outstanding job of keeping us busy. I have a list of confirmed tour dates on my website. There are some other dates that aren’t
completely confirmed at the moment, but we expect them to go solid in the next few weeks. We do a combination of headlining
and support shows. They’re all fun. We really do enjoy playing live.
What Solo and Firehouse plans do you have for 2018-19?
When I finish my next solo tune, I’ll have 10 and I’ll put out a CD. I don’t have any plans or intention of touring as a solo artist.
I just like to write and record my solo tunes. Hopefully, FireHouse will come up with a song that we all believe in and we’ll record
it. We’re all open to the idea.
Thank you for taking time for this interview. Any last words to the fans?
Thank you all for supporting our band. We always dreamed of being able to play our music to a live audience, but we had no
idea that we’d be able to do it for 28 years. Thanks to the fans, we’re living our dream. We hope to see you on the road…
