HUMAN RESOURCES / RISK MANAGEMENT
DGR MANAGER IN TRAINING GUIDE
• Manager or MOD will record the information in the LPMS system
• LOA Administrator is automatically notified after the notice is filed in the LPMS system
• Customer incidents/accidents/illness reported as having occurred on GESMN property should be
reported to the Risk Management team and not to the Work Comp Administrator
Whom do I contact if I have a question about a Work Comp claim/Illness/Incident/Accident?
Workcomp@gesmn.org. The Work Comp Administrator works with the injured employee, Managers,
GESMN Payroll, GESMN Benefits, and the insurance company that provides our Workers’ Compensation
coverage, United Heartland.
Is the employee always covered under our Work Comp insurance?
Employees and participants who report a work-related injury, incident or illness that occurred while - or
as a result of - performing his/her usual job duties at GESMN, are generally covered under the GESMN
Workers’ Compensation insurance coverage
Who manages the Work Comp claim for work-related injuries/illnesses/incidents?
These claims are managed by Adjusters at United Heartland. The assigned Adjuster will contact the
employee about the claim and next steps, including payment of medical bills related to the incident.
What does the employee/participant need to do when they are ready to return to work?
If the injured person sought medical treatment outside of GESMN, GESMN requires a document from
the treating healthcare provider, authorizing the employee to return to work. The document should
state the employee is allowed to return to work and give detailed information about any restrictions (if
there are any). If there are restrictions, GESMN will try to accommodate them and find work suitable for
the employee/participant.
If unable to continue working due to the injury/illness, does the employee receive GESMN pay for the
remainder of the scheduled shift?
If the injured person has gone for medical treatment outside of GESMN on the date that they are
injured, GESMN will pay them for the remainder of their scheduled shift.
LEAVE OF ABSENCE
A Leave of Absence is an option available to GESMN employees who need time away from work. The
