FERC: Treasurer - Work Description and Personal Qualities
Title: Treasurer
Reports to: The FERC Board/Advisory Committee (AC)
Main purpose: To manage FERC’s financial affairs, ensuring its financial viability, and ensuring
that proper financial records and procedures are maintained
Working hours: Variable but an estimated average of 5 hours per month
Key tasks:
• Attend the majority of AC meetings and major events.
• Prepare an annual budget prior to the scholarship interviews and thereby ensure that FERC’s
financial resources meet present and future needs.
• Ensure that FERC has an appropriate reserves policy.
• Ensure that appropriate accounting procedures and controls are in place.
• Present a written financial summary statement to the Board/AC at each meeting.
• Work with the Scholarship and Sponsorship Officers to provide financial data for the calculation
of the number of scholarships for allocation each year.
• Issue Donation Receipts and vendor receipts.
• Contribute to the fundraising strategy; prepare budgets for each fundraising event and set a
goal.
• Prepare and submit the annual accounts to the accounting firm and auditor; work with the
accounting firm as required to facilitate the filing of the Thai Revenue forms.
• Upload documents to the Google Drive account; organize folders as needed.
• Periodically check the Give2Asia/MyriadUSA website for available funds and facilitate the
transfer of funds to the Bangkok Bank general savings account.
• Coordinate with the Swiss FERC representative for updates on that account and need for
transfers, etc.
Skills and Experience:
• Financial experience including accounting/bookkeeping and budgeting.
• An ability to analyze financial proposals and determine their financial consequences.
• Possess sound Information Communication Technology (ICT) skills e.g. use a computer, tablet,
or mobile phone, send an email, browse the internet, and make a video call.
• A good command of written and spoken English.
• Experience working in a team-oriented environment.
• Possess good time management skills.
• An ability to work independently, flexibly, and creatively.
• To be familiar with confidentiality requirements and data protection.
• To be mindful of equality and diversity requirements.
Essential:
• Have their own computer, scanner, and printer in good working condition.
• Review the FERC Handbook.
