FERC: Chairperson - Work Description and Personal Qualities
Title: Chairperson
Reports to: The FERC Board/Advisory Committee (AC)
Main purpose:
• Lead and work in partnership with the Board/AC members and to pursue the FERC Mission,
Vision, and Values.
• Ensure that the Board/AC members fulfill their responsibilities in order to achieve the FERC
goals.
Working hours: Variable but an estimated 10 hours per month.
Key tasks:
• Attend the majority of Board/AC meetings and major events.
• Provide leadership for the Board in its role of setting the strategy and policy of FERC.
• Plan the annual cycle of Board meetings.
• With all Board/AC members, set the agenda for the Board meetings.
• Ensure that decisions taken at Board/AC meetings are implemented
• Participate in FERC activities as appropriate and Represent FERC in the wider community.
• Adjudicate on disciplinary and grievance issues.
Skills and experience:
• Leadership skills
• Good interpersonal skills: diplomacy and impartiality.
• Experience in committee work.
• Experience working in a team-oriented environment.
• A good command of written and spoken English.
• Possess sound Information Communication Technology (ICT) skills e.g. use a computer, tablet,
or mobile phone, send an email, browse the internet, and make a video call.
• Good time management skills.
• An ability to work independently, flexibly, and creatively.
• To be familiar with confidentiality requirements and data protection.
• To be mindful of equality and diversity requirements.
Essential:
• Have their own computer, scanner, and printer in good working condition.
• Review the FERC Handbook.
Desirable:
• A wide social and professional network in the local community.
• Competency in the Thai language.
• Own transport.
