          2 Chapter two: Project Charter

2.1 Introduction

The world’s new energy trend is toward renewable and environmentally harmless energy. The idea
of our project is to design an electric car the race we tend to participate in is based on some
regulations that must the project follow it.
The project’s scope can be divided into two sections, the in and out of scope. The first one defines
what are the responsibilities of the team such as choose a high-quality material that is available in
the local market, supervising the manufacturing of the parts of the project and choosing suitable
mechanical systems. The second one, out of scope, is a list of things that not related to the team,
things like electrical parts and programming also any modification on the design after the project
closure.
The risks mean any event that may adversely affect the ability of the solution to produce the
required deliverables. Such as high temperature of batteries. The issues mean any event that
currently adversely affects the ability of the solution to produce the required deliverables, like no
material available.
The assumption is guessing of some information that are fix during the designing of the project like
prices of raw materials will not increase during the course of this project, and the major constraints
identified with the project to date are safety, lightweight, good aerodynamic and cost minimized.

2.2 Project Definition

The idea of the project is to design an electric car by using fiberglass material. We have
four options related to the shape of the electric car, each one of them has its own details.
In this section, we are going to list detailed information about our objective, the in and out
of scope, our vision that we anticipate achieving by the end of this project, and finally the
deliverables of the project.

2.2.1 Vision

To participate with the design of Electric Car in Shell Eco-Marathon.

2.2.2 Objectives

The main objective of the project is to follow the regulation described in the same terms of
the race and consider it as a standard. In this section, we are going to list our business and
technological objectives. Objectives are what the project set to achieve when it’s delivered
to the client.

Business Objectives
 High safety and ethical standard.
 Collaborate with other companies and present their product.

Technology Objectives
 Apply previous knowledge and methods to comprehensively design a mechanical
         system.
 Energy reduction usage for longer range.
 Give the collaborated companies opportunity for testing their products.

                                                                                                      30 | P a g e
