Headship Programme with National Professional Qualification for Headship (NPQH)
We are able to offer senior leaders preparing for headship within 12-18 months or current headteachers looking to develop their role, the
National Professional Qualification for Headship (NPQH) as part of the alliance with Ambition School Leadership.
The programme will ensure all participants increase their confidence and capability in the core skills and responsibilities of an effective
school leader, and will empower participants to develop a strong network to support them as headteachers. Training sessions will include
the following five core areas:
• Self-development and stepping up into senior leadership
• Strategic leadership using data
• Leadership of whole-school CPD
• Teaching and learning improvements
• Horizon scanning and looking to the future
As well as pre- and post-workshop reading, participants will need to lead a change programme at whole-school level, lasting at least two
terms, to increase pupil progress and attainment. They will need to present the plan to their governing body prior to implementation and
gather their feedback. Finally, they will need to undertake a placement in a contrasting school lasting at least nine working days.
Participants will be assessed through a written assignment to ensure they have reached the qualification requirements, plus a viva interview
to assess them against the more challenging Ambition bar.
Participants commit to stay in their sponsoring school for the duration of the programme.
