Those who have won individual honours are Bob Benes (under 15
high jump), Aileen Barr and Desley Carmichael (under 15 goal throwing).
and Dianne Hargreaves, who is Queensland under 14 tennis champion.
We would also like to congratulate Dawn Cloherty, who has been
selected to represent Queensland in vigoro and cricko.
Though our boys are greatly out-numbered by the girls, we can boast
one leading member of the Cadets, drummer Martin Thom.
We also welcome Ruby Brown who has recently arrived from Fiji.
3C2 would like to thank all the teachers for their—er—co-operation (?)
and DETENTION BOOK.
Just before signing off we would like to wish all the Juniors and
Seniors the best of luck in the forthcoming examinations.
3C2 signing off with a little poem that all should read, for it explains
our education needs.
Although we are quite rowdy,
As everyone agrees,
Our teachers think we’re wonderful
As wonderful as can be.
We’re always up to mischief.
As everyone can see,
But our teachers lose their patience.
’Cause they’re brainer than we.
But when we really want to learn.
We’re as good, as good can be,
And all the teachers get such shocks.
And we’re kept in after three.
FORM 3C3--
Form Teacher: .Miss McClanachan.
Form Captains: Tania Chuikoff; Janice Freese.
What a form is 3C3,
Teachers’ pride and joy we be.
Surpassing only in degree,
The brilliance of our table’s tapestry.
This is the first year that this school has had a 3C3 and we hope
to have created a good name for future classes to follow and carry on.
We were a large class, 40, but our numbers have dwindled to 32. Even
though some results aren’t as high as they should lie, it is not for the want
of trying (?)
Our class is well represented in all school activities. Many girls were
in G.P.S. ball games and sports. Lyn Tonkin is the under 15 running champion
of this school. Margaret Brown is sure to lie the next Pavlova, while Yvonne
Chantler has proved her outstanding ability for theatrical work, and Linda
McQuillan, our most competent life-saver.
The whole class excels in some way, even though some haven’t shown
just where their talents lie.
Mr. Griffith tries to “drum things’’ into us, but usually goes away
discouraged and thinking how trying we are.
