including first and second, in the annual cross-country, Ken Lindley is
our representative from the Life-saving Clubs (yes, girls, the one that
wears the red track suit). Ian Ament, Alan Lentz, Cliff Austin and
John Henderson are our cricketers. Our representatives in this year’s
B grade premiership football team were Ian Downs, John Sands, John
Henderson and Stuart Robinson. Ken Ede is keenly interested in diving
and swimming (I wonder why). Michael McDonald is the Form captain.
Now we have dealt with the weaker sex, let us turn to the drink
machine "bar maids". We are excellent at exterminating ants, "cock
roaches” grass and orange flavouring. Fifth Form girls abound in
school spirit especially when it involves being trampled on by the enemy
(i.e. cadets) on passing-out parade day. How willing we were to help
those poor cadets when they couldn’t flounder through all that food.
(Yum-yum !)
The following are our notable characteristics : Nancy Bielenberg,
Elizabeth Maccoll, Barbara Arnold, Glenise Sims have represented the
school in ball games. Helen Midson and Lynne O'Neill are the honourable
librarians. Barbara Szkutko and Margaret Lawler are keen (?)
German students, while Lian Tan finds difficulty with the English
language (she’s not the only one).
Glenis Justins is a keen photographer, especially on sports day.
Gina Spencer lately arrived from Mt. Isa, with the help of Valerie
Proud, Margaret Senden, and Jan Conley likes organising class parties.
Anne Forward has the knack of making edible cakes (lucky her). Joy
Hafner is the only girl doing Geography and seems not to dislike the
position. Margaret Gilbert finds difficulty in arriving at school on time,
and keeps good (?) company with Lula Syymanowski who misses the
train now and then. Patsy Coe is the Form captain.
Finally, we would like to thank all our teachers for their untiring
efforts during the year, and to wish everybody success in the next
exams.
FORM 4 Al
Judging by the stories circulating about our notorious Form, it is
a wonder that we do not hide our faces in shame. But, we do not. We
are proud of the few achievements we have made.
A few of us actually managed to scrape through our exams. The
first and second term exams, were topped by Rodney Hazell and Dorothy
Ingram, respectively. These were closely followed by David Heaton,
Robyn Shepherd, Tony Grant, Ian Hastings, Jack Stobert and Margaret
Edwards.
We have the honour of having in our class two of the Cadet Unit’s
Pipers, David Ament and Greg. Newnham, who are well supported by
the drummers, Ian Fraser and Noel Edser.
Our sportsmen are Lawrence Molyneux, who “putts the shot" and
Jack Stobert and Len Starika who ran in the relays. Sharon Cordwell
excels in running, and with Pam Clark, was in Miss Nixon’s ball games
team. Pam is also a champion at swimming. We congratulate Ian
Hastings for being in the first eleven and the first thirteen. Other
cricketers are Starika and Stobert, while Stobert, Fraser, Grant and
Brown do well in football.
We give our heartiest thanks to Mr. Hazell. our Form teacher, for
his patience with us. We sincerely hope that when the results come out,
we will show ourselves a greater credit to him than we have been
during the year.
